The Community Centre used to be the village school before being taken over by the Community Association. Thus its layout and design follows that of a school with a large main hall, two classrooms, a kitchen area, toilet/washroom facilities and various storage facilities. Outside to the front is a fenced play area and to the rear a large grassed playing field. Extensive modernisation has allowed the centre to be used for a variety of functions and uses. One of the classrooms has been converted into a private meeting room with its own kitchenette and unisex toilets which can be hired separate to the main hall.
The main hall and the adjoining kitchen provide the largest space for hire and can accommodate a maximum of 120 seated persons or 100 people at tables. The hall has separate male and female toilet facilities and a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities. Double rear doors lead out to a small patio area and the playing field beyond. Hirers can choose between practical plastic chairs and rectangular foldaway tables (ideal for children parties) or upholstered chairs and circular banqueting tables for more intimate dining events.
A fully equipped kitchen is included with the hire of the main hall. With a large oven/hob, fridge/freezer, kettle and urn plus toaster and microwave. Double sink and drainer and ample pots/pans utensils, crockery and glasses to cater for most events. The rear room to the kitchen contains every conceivable mop, brush and dustpan to enable you to clear up any spillage or mess.
With a separate entrance to the Main Hall, the Meeting Room can be hired independent of the hall for that smaller function, with a maximum seated capacity of 50 persons or 40 people at tables. The small kitchenette area contains a fridge, microwave, kettle and urn. With a sink/drainer and a cupboard stocked with utensils, crockery and glasses one has everything to hand for the smaller function. A small cloakroom area leads to two unisex toilets. Hirers can again choose between practical plastic chairs and rectangular foldaway tables or the upholstered chairs and circular banqueting tables.
As already mentioned the Stoke Hammond Community Centre has several options available when it comes to table and chairs. We have stackable plastic chairs which are particularly more suited to children's parties where spillage and mess might occur. We then have more comfortable upholstered stackable chairs. For tables we have the more traditional foldaway rectangular tables but for the more special occasions we have circular banqueting tables. The choice is yours and all are included in your hire price.
We are please to be able to offer to all centre users, a free, unlimited connection to an ultrafast broadband facility provided by Gigaclear, who generously provide this service to our centre as part of their Community Hub support scheme.
To Centre has its own entrance from Bragenham Side leading to a private gated car park for exclusive use of centre hirers. The rear green playing field does not belong to the Centre but is available for public use. If as a hire you wish to specifically use this area and or erect a structure such as a marquee then permission must be sought from the clerk of the Parish Council who can be contacted at clerk.stokehammondpc@gmail.com
